First week of school

The first day of school is gone and now starting a LONG year of school. my math teach is fun. And he is a totally math geek! I mean he wears a pocket protector! mom thinks that is hysterical! he is my favorite now. the English teacher is nice. She used to teach Juvenile Delinquents. She really tries to teach the way we would like and cares about what we think. I think that is great. Then there is the Spanish teacher. he is great. Fun guy. one of my favorite teachers is the Social Studies teacher. OH! he is so great! we just pretended we are all senators. We got to pick a state to be from and of course I picked Oregon, the beaver state! I was not only born there but 90% of the people down there are democrats which what side I am on! We get to make bills and then debate over them. I am about the best debater ever! I love it! I can make such good come backs! debating has always been something I had liked to do! I am learning so much about government and republicans and about the peers around me... This year in social studies I know I will have a great time. we will dress for Ellis Island where we will pick a country and then dress like it and learn to speak its language and we will pretend we are trying to get into the US. It looks so fun,. We will also dress up like hobos for the soup kitchen... And then at the end of the year we will get to go to Washington DC! YES! My least favorite teacher isthe science teacher. He scares me so much! he has these little beady eyes and always get mad if you do anything wrong. but on the positive side he does some fun stuff. like for practice using triple beam balances and graduated cylinders we filled up those water balloons to 250 grams each. and then for measurement we built a giant slingshot and shot the water balloons at a frog stuffed animal 25 yards away. it was fun. we had 7 tries to hit him and our group of 4, figured out on the 4th try that if you pull the slingshot back to about 128cm. and aim to the left then it will come close to the target. so on the 7th try we hit it! yes! the bus is long and we lost 1 person and gained seven 6 graders so we all have to seat double... 8th grade isn't going to be as good as 7th but it will be pretty good. that pretty much somes up my whole first four weeks of school!

rhythmic gymnastics

A few days ago on the Olympics the Women's Rhythmic Gymnastics where on. WOW! Each team had three hula hoops plus two batons and each had a different routine. It was amazing! They would throw the hoops up and then jump through them. Each team was great. They were all so unique. My favorite was the Italian team although the Russian team won.

School

School starts in only a few days. Less than a week! NO! Summer went by so quick. This year, going into 8th grade, this will be my last year in the middle school and I am not with many of my friends. This year all my main classes are taught by men! I have never had that happen before! Well lets hope that my last week of summer lasts a little longer and that I survive this next year!

Web Leader Training

Yesterday, today, and tomorrow I am going to school for web leader training. It is so 6th graders coming into the school know a little about the school and what it is like. Yesterday we played a few games and learned what to tell the 6th graders. Today we are going to find out who our partners are. Alot of my friends are doing this too and i hope I am with one of them! During the year we will get to go to ice cream socials (yum!). I hope we get to still eat the ice cream!

Big Trip

I have just got back from Portland Oregon! I had so much fun! I went kayaking, windsurfing, swimming and hiking! I went to a book store called Powell's that is 4 stories high! It has every book ever printed! At a fish hatchery, we saw a stergoun (type of fish) named Herman. He was 10 ft long and 65 years old! I went on a bike ride above the Colombia River Gorge that was 10 miles long and went on a 30ft high zip line! I had a great time, although I am glad to be home now.
